i cannot watch this movie without my eyes stinging. The intangibles of Scotland's scenery are incredible. Not just the beauty of it bathed in the soft northern light, there's something else there embedded in the earth that seeps in to your body and your mind. This movie encapsulates all that.The move has as much magic and the place. It really is beautiful

scene is not complete....Gordon states Stella is the boss....til this reveal, the audience is led to believe otherwise

I love how, even from a distance, you can tell Mac running toward Happer on the beach vs. Danny, whose arms are all akimbo and flailing like as 12-year-old. Great Burt Lancaster scene.

I think this is the most beautiful scene in any movie, ever.

Of all of the films that I have seen over the last forty years, every time someone has asked me what my favorite movie is, I tell them "Local Hero". The story, the scenery, Mark Knopfler's music, all of it, hit me hard. I was in a 60% travel job at the time and I could so relate to the feelings Mac was having and what he was going through. I was in a hotel room somewhere and wanted to be in that small town. I'll never forget how this movie made me feel.

Forsyth couldn't just let any scene happen without another sub-plot. Whose baby was that, anyway?

The good phone call to Happer is when he was drunk.

Soviet Fishermen came in close to British shores. ( It was a Treaty I think) Many recorded western music to sell in the USSR...which is why Victor from Murmansk sings a Texan song. . Glasnost and Peristroika began during the 1980s. A hopeful time . Victor was like many sailors a capitalist with black market investments in European countries.

So glad to have found this, since it's not on the soundtrack. What a joyous few moments. I watched Local Hero last night, for about the tenth time in 40 years. A wonderful film. And aside from this turn, Victor has some of the best lines. "Oh Gordon, you know I'm more of a cash man." And "you got da deed, ... a piece of paper."

Now, port elite to it!

Great film. I had only seen the terribly synchronized German version previously, but i always thought McIntyre would speak like an American, not a Scotsman.

Aside from the voice synchronization putting a kung fu movie to shame, such a great scene in such a great movie. Every panty in the house dropped for Victor. That all aside, it's fair to say that for many who love this movie it brings up important periods in their lives.

Just a phone booth, yet somehow an iconic part of this film's imagery. Such a perfect film, and thank you Mark Knopfler. Your music made this film complete.

I always thought the house blew up at the end. The miniature I mean.

Great scene....the New World, ( oil refinery), drifts lazily into the old, the looming loss of which is epitomized by the going down of the Sun...but maybe not quite yet!

Love love this film. It’s a film you put on when you feel the need to reconnect with your soul.

Great deus ex machina moment, in the guise of Burt Lancaster.

Was that Burt actually getting out of the 'copter or a stand in. The crowd suddenly obscured the view at that moment which was a coincidence or? Don't think coincidences occur often in film making.

Get you 5 or 6 miles of beach in Hawaii, that made me smile. Dig at Americans? No surely, can read anything into that.
